Everyone at the HSCC will be deeply saddened to learn that Dallas Smith has passed away.

Dallas served as the Club’s chief scrutineer for many years before he stood down from the role at the end of the 2019 season, shortly after his 90th birthday. He was given a ‘Long Service Recognition’ award by Motorsport UK to honour his 62 years as a scrutineer.

He had worked since the late 1950s as a scrutineer and before that was a race mechanic and even built one of the first Lotus 6s. He worked for the HSCC since the very early days of the Club’s own race meetings back in 1982.

His contribution to the HSCC has been immeasurable and we send sincere condolences to his family and many friends across the sport. He will be hugely missed.

HSCC CEO Andy Dee-Crowne said: “I’ve been working with Dallas for more than 20 years and he has been a major influence for the Historic Sports Car Club. I shall miss him greatly on both a personal and professional level.”
