The Historic Sports Car Club is receiving strong interest in the Dunlop Saloon Car Cup for 2021 and expects to field good grids at each of three high-profile race meetings this season. Dunlop has pledged on-going support for the growing series.

The series covers three distinct groups of saloon and touring cars: Group 1, Group A and Super Touring/S2000 and is home to cars from the 1970s right through to 2006. The 2021 schedule focuses on three events and six races at leading UK tracks. The dates are:

22/23 May: Silverstone Grand Prix circuit

26/27 June: Donington Park

28-30 August: Oulton Park International

In addition to the dedicated UK races, DSCC contenders will have the chance to race at the magnificent Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium as part of the HSCC Closed Wheel races at the Classic Six Hour meeting (1-3 October).

Championship chairman Andrew Warner reports a very good initial response and strong commitment from existing drivers as well as enquiries from new competitors, which should lead to good grids for all three events. Several new cars are due to join the grid, including Super Tourers, and there is support across all classes from Sierra RS500s to Super Tourers, Group A and earlier cars. There is also an invitation class for suitable cars.

All three groups will have a dedicated podium after each race and attractive entry fees are an important part of the overall package. The entry fee for a 20-minute qualifying session and two 20-minute races ranges between £555 and £580.

Andy Dee-Crowne, CEO of the HSCC, said: “I’d like to thank John Pearson at HP Tyres for their continued support for the series. I’m very pleased with the early response to the Dunlop Saloon Car Cup, both from existing contenders and from new drivers who will receive a warm welcome. We’re keen to see cars and drivers that have not raced with us before and invite drivers who may not be able to plan races in mainland Europe just yet to join us for one or more events.”
