A healthy number of entrants is set is tackle the hills at a site near Colliers End, Gore Lane, Colliers End, Near Ware, Herts. SG11 1ES on Saturday 28th July for the next historic sporting trial of the season. Scrutineering will commence at 09.30 with the First Test at 10.30. There will be three laps of six sections on private land and the entries will be split into groups to start at different hills to ensure the programme can be completed.
Please come along to support the competitors and, if you fancy a spot of marshalling rather than spectating, you would be very welcome – it’s a great way to get involved and training will be given in the morning. Directions to the site can be obtained by e-mailing Martyn Halliday at email@example.com
Some of the competitors are meeting at the Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel and Country Club for an evening meal at 8pm on the Friday before the trial. The hotel is a couple of miles from the site (post code SG12 0SD). You are welcome to join them but you may need to book a table (01920 487722).
A number of competitors have raised the question of carrying fire extinguishers in historic sporting trial cars. It is vitally important to be able to rapidly extinguish a vehicle fire and to stop it spreading to the surrounding countryside. Competing vehicles must carry a hand-held working fire extinguisher, which must be securely attached to the vehicle but be readily available for use in the event of a fire. Powder, AFFF and various gas extinguishants are all permitted by the MSA (look at the Blue Book for details).
