The Historic Sports Car Club has already taken more than 230 entries ahead of the provisional resumption of racing at its Legends of Brands Hatch Super Prix meeting on the Grand Prix circuit on 11/12 July.

In addition, the Club has added two races for the fabulous Historic Formula 2 cars to the event. The Historic F2 schedule has been badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the first five of seven events postponed or cancelled. The stunning F2 pack was due to race on the Brands Hatch GP track at the end of May, but two races have now been added to the 11/12 July meeting.

Subject to on-going government advice, the HSCC is planning to run a full weekend of racing on one of the best-loved tracks in the UK. The event will be run in accordance with all government and Motorsport UK rules and guidelines and changes will, inevitably, be made to how the event is operated to ensure the maintenance of social distancing and the well-being of everyone present.

The competitor response to the planned resumption of the sport has been hugely positive with more than 230 entries received in two weeks and nearly six weeks still to go until the event.

HSCC CEO Andy Dee-Crowne said: “Of course, this event is entirely dependent upon instructions from both the government and Motorsport UK. However, the signs are looking increasingly positive as we start to emerge from the pandemic. What is very clear, is that there is a great appetite among our members to get racing again and it looks like we are heading for a bumper entry.

“There are a number of operational questions currently being addressed and we will give competitors further updates in the build-up to the event. The weekend timetable is being re-worked to make it a one-day event for as many competitors as possible.”

The race line-up takes in many of the HSCC’s championships and series, covering Historic Formula 2, Thundersports, Aurora Trophy, Guards Trophy, Historic Touring Cars, Classic Formula Ford, Historic Formula Ford, Historic Formula Ford 2000, Classic Formula 3/Classic Formula Ford 2000, 70s Road Sports, Historic Road Sports, Historic Formula Junior and Historic Formula 3.

Entries are now open for the event via the on-line system on the HSCC website (www.hscc.org.uk) and all intending competitors are urged to place entries as quickly as possible. No monies will be taken until the closing date for entries and if the event is cancelled for any reason or competitors need to later withdraw their entries, full refunds will be given.
