SUMMARY:Silverstone GP
DESCRIPTION:Running in its traditional spring date (14/15 May)\, the Silverstone International Trophy weekend is one of the jewels in the HSCC calendar. The chance to tackle the full Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone is not to be missed with huge grids and great racing assured around this excellent facility. As usual\, the action will be based from the Heritage paddock\, but taking in the full three-mile Grand Prix circuit. With its fast sweeps through Maggots and Becketts and the technical challenge in the loop section\, allied to plenty of smooth run-off\, this is a great place for historic racing. \nWith a Saturday race only\, 70s Road Sports and 80s Production start the weekend off. Meanwhile\, qualifying and racing on Sunday only are Historic Road Sports\, Guards Trophy and the opening race for the exciting new Griffiths Haig Trophy for 1950s drum brake sports cars. Racing across the weekend are Thundersports\, Historic Formula Ford\, Classic Formula Ford\, Historic Formula 3\, Historic Formula Ford 2000 and the combined Aurora Trophy and Geoff Lees Trophy. Competitors in Historic Touring Cars will have the opportunity to race in a grid shared with Historic Road Sports for a 25-minute race. This will be a non-championship race for the Touring Cars. It is a superb line-up of some of the best of the HSCC’s racing categories\, and a fitting programme for this important weekend. \nAt Silverstone we also have a welcome guest race in the form of the Masters Gentlemen Drivers grid for pre ‘66 GT cars with a mini-endurance race on Saturday. Expect a bulging grid featuring Jaguar E-types\, AC Cobras\, Lotus Elans and more. \n
