“I am very grateful and humbled by the tremendous support I have received from Members and friends from all over the world concerning my decision to stand down as Chair of the HSCC.

“I will not condone my actions or comment on the ruling of the National Court. However I would like to say that I have publicly apologised to those concerned if I caused offence, as it was not my intention. I believed that it was appropriate for me to stand down as your Chair as I did not want my private comments to be in anyway associated with the HSCC or to bring the Club, which has been very important to me, into disrepute.

“Given the tremendous support that I have received from Members wanting me to continue in post, I have decided that I will stand for election as Chair and let you the Members decide democratically and in line with our rules whether I continue.”
