Don't forget to book a place at the Silverstone International Supper Party in the BRDC Clubhouse on 20th May. Entries open for CCRC meeting on 1st May for HF3 and Classic Clubmans at Castle Combe.

email161213The Historic Sports Car Club's Classic Formula 3 category will receive a major boost in 2014 with a pair of races at the Silverstone Classic (25-27 July) for the 1600cc and 2-litre F3 cars of the 1971-1984 era.

With a target entry of 50 cars, the HSCC is bidding to create one of the biggest grids ever seen in Formula 3 history. As well as cars from the club's UK series, more than 20 cars form the corresponding French F3 Classic movement are expected to swell the grid.

HSCC CEO Grahame White says that the high-profile date is great news for the category, which features many original cars raced by drivers like Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell and Martin Brundle.

"We're delighted that Classic F3 has earned a place on the programme at the Silverstone Classic and the response from competitors has already been extremely positive," said White. "It would be fantastic to get a grid of 50 cars, possibly the biggest F3 grid in the history of the category. We are very grateful to Nick Wigley and his team at the Silverstone Classic for making this possible."

The double-header weekend, with races on Saturday and Sunday, will cater for the 1600cc cars raced from '71 to '73 and the 2-litre cars that raced for the next decade.
